đź’˛ Salary: USD $18,000 – $22,000 / year, Salary Commiserate with Experience
Overall Responsibility:
Support Need in Deed Teacher Network members in the facilitation of Need in Deed’s My Voice service-learning framework in classrooms. Collaborate with program staff to develop professional development workshops and strategies.
Specific Areas of Responsibility:
- Coach Teacher Network members in service-learning theory and practice through formal and informal professional development sessions and classroom visits;
- Assist teachers in aligning their curriculum with the My Voice framework
- Cultivate relationships with community partners; schedule classroom visits, research ideas for interactive learning experiences and service-learning projects;
- Maintain database of resources for service-learning projects, including books, videos, and other materials;
- Maintain records of project activities for assigned teachers and communicate project successes and challenges with supervisor and NID staff;
- Share photos and information regarding projects via social media as necessary;
Desirable Characteristics and Areas of Expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred
- Experience training/coaching K-12 teachers, preferably in an urban setting
- Experience teaching in public school classrooms, preferably in an urban setting
- Committed to the equitable education of all children
- Experience in conducting high quality service-learning projects with K-12 students, preferably in an urban setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to interact in person, over the phone, via email with NID constituents, including teachers, community partners and administrators
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to conduct trainings, promote organization and its capabilities, and communicate essential information in a timely manner to teachers, NID staff, and partners
- Team oriented; values group process, and group problem solving
- Self-motivated; able to see tasks/projects through from start to finish; excellent attention to detail
- Organized and able to maintain records of information gathered, can determine most relevant information and present in a thorough and concise manner
- Adaptable; able to shift in focus in response to evolving organizational needs
- Pro-Active, able to anticipate tasks/needs and plan accordingly
- Experience with AirTable, Google, and the Microsoft Suite
- Access to reliable transportation
- Desirable background could include youth program development/management; knowledge of city’s human services/non-profits/community networks/professional learning communities.
