Program Coordinator/ Full-time position

Position: Program Coordinator
Reports to: Professional Development Director

Overall responsibility: Support Philadelphia public school teachers (3rd-8th grades) in the facilitation of NID’s service-learning framework in their classrooms. Work with Professional Development Director and Program Manager to support a service-learning teacher network and to deliver other professional development services.

Specific areas of responsibility:
• Work with Professional Development Director and Program Manager to: support Teacher Network members in service-learning theory and practice through formal and informal professional development sessions and classroom visits, assist teachers in connecting service-learning activities to the curriculum, contact potential community partners and schedule classroom visits, research ideas for field trips and service-learning projects, and develop database of local community partners;
• Assist in all operations of the Teacher Network, including coordination of administrative details for teacher training sessions, program evaluators, grant partners, and recognition events for teachers and students;
• Maintain and update records on Teacher Network activities;
• Make recommendations for the future direction of the Teacher Network; and
• Stay current with service-learning literature and trends.

Desirable characteristics and areas of expertise:
• Required: Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent interpersonal skills: able to interact over phone, by email, and in person with various NID constituents, including teachers, students, administrators and community partners
• Self-motivated: able to see tasks/projects through from start to finish
• Organized: able to stay current with changing Teacher Network needs and maintain relevant records, attention to detail is high priority
• Pro-active: able to anticipate tasks/needs and plan accordingly
• Strong verbal communications and presentation skills: able to promote organization and its capabilities and to communicate essential information in timely matter to NID staff
• Good written communications: able to compose basic letters, emails, documents and reports
• Computer literate: familiarity with Macs, Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro
• Desirable background could include: youth program development, classroom teacher, knowledge of city’s human services/non-profits, service-learning.

Salary: mid 30’s (w/benefits), DOE.
